We are an independent specialist consultancy with deep expertise in materials science, fire performance and technical assessment, supporting organisations operating across safety-critical and highly regulated industries. Our role goes beyond reviewing whether evidence meets a particular standard. Meet the team
Dr Sam Sambasivan
DirectorSam is a highly experienced materials and fire safety specialist with a career spanning more than three decades across safety-critical industries, including rail, rolling stock, infrastructure and defence.
His specialist expertise encompasses materials science, reaction to fire, fire performance, product assessment, and the interpretation and application of national and international standards. His career includes significant experience with London Underground and BAE Systems – Submarines. He has applied his expertise to the assessment of materials and products and authored major revisions to London Underground’s Fire Safety Performance of Materials — Stations and Tunnel Infrastructure standard.
A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of both the IET and IOM3, Sam also holds a PhD focused on investigating the failure mechanisms of epoxy materials in submarine environment. He brings deep technical and practical knowledge to Optimi Global, with a particular ability to translate complex science and evidence into clear guidance that helps clients navigate fire safety standards, materials performance and compliance requirements.
Mr Suresh Kumar
ConsultantKumar is a specialist in fire testing, fire performance and materials, with extensive knowledge of standards and test methods used across highly regulated industries.
His experience spans railway applications, building products, cables, electrotechnical products, defence requirements, plastics and other material applications. He also has specialist expertise in the analysis of smoke and toxic gas production, flame spread and heat release.
Through his experience with Warringtonfire and Interscience, Kumar has developed an in-depth understanding of fire testing laboratories, including their day-to-day technical operations, testing processes and management.
